Geography department of Tarn et Garonne

The department of Tarn-et-Garonne is part of the Midi-Pyrenees. It borders the departments of Lot, Aveyron, Tarn, Haute-Garonne, Gers and Lot-et-Garonne.

Despite its small size, Tarn-et-Garonne has a great diversity of landscapes and landforms. The plain, situated between the Tarn and Garonne, and in the valley of the Aveyron (from its mouth to Montricoux) contrast with the hills of Lomagne and northern department. Eastern Tarn-et-Garonne is a limestone plateau, a plateau where we practice especially livestock. The gorge of Aveyron in the Saint-Antonin attract many tourists, both for its beautiful landscapes and multiple activities available (canoeing, hiking, etc..).

The peak of the department amounted to 503 m, north-west of the town of Najac. However, we can find not far from a lower side, 379 m, where the GR 46 crosses the boundary of the Tarn where the summit.
